Legitimate screen-sharing software can solve problems quickly, but the same access attracts scammers.

Access should begin with verification

Only start a remote session with a person or company contacted through a trusted channel. Unexpected calls claiming to detect a problem should be treated as suspicious.

Watch the boundaries

A support technician should explain each action and should not need banking passwords, gift cards or secrecy. End the session if the request moves beyond the agreed task.

Remove access when finished

Close the software, revoke unattended permissions and uninstall tools you no longer need. If a suspicious session occurred, disconnect, change important passwords on a clean device and contact affected services.
