A practical checklist covering safeguards, support, money movement and long-term account usability.

Start with the regulated service behind the interface

A polished app does not explain who holds deposits, which protections apply or how complaints are handled. Confirm the licensed institution, applicable safeguards and the legal entity responsible for the account. These details matter more than animation, rewards or a long feature list.

Test everyday money movement

Review transfer limits, settlement times, cash access, international use, bill payments and the process for adding or removing beneficiaries. Ask what happens when a payment is delayed or disputed. Reliable support during an exception is a core banking feature.

Consider security and exit options

Look for strong authentication, useful alerts, device controls and a clear recovery process. Also check statements, data export and account closure. A banking relationship should remain understandable when you change phones, travel, lose access or decide to move elsewhere.
