Travel, field work and congested networks expose applications that assume a permanent connection. Offline capability protects continuity and reduces waiting.
Synchronization is the difficult part
Good offline design explains which data is available, when changes synchronize and how conflicts are resolved. A simple cached screen is not the same as a reliable offline workflow.
Local capability can support resilience
Offline-first architecture may also reduce server dependence and improve perceived speed. It still requires careful security and backup design for locally stored information.
