Urban Breed joins Pyramaze!!
Pyramaze has announced that Urban breed — one of the most amazing voices in metal — will replace Matt Barlow (another amazing voice, and now back in Iced Earth) as its full-time vocalist! There couldn’t be more exciting news in the realm of powermetal at this point!
Urban was absolutely fantastic in Tad Morose’s “Matters of the Dark“, and, from what I hear, even more so in “Modus Vivendi” (from which I’ve only heard the awesome Anubis).
Pyramaze’s latest release, “Immortal”, with Matt, is mindblowingly fantastic — I’ll admit the only reason I was interested in this band was to hear Matt sing (even though I’m not intimately familiar with Iced Earth’s earlier offerings) but it’s quite clear that the entire band displays a high level of musicianship — and if there were anyone else remotely capable of replacing him, it was Urban. His name came up quite a bit in fan discussions on the official forum (as Matt’s often did, after Lance King left), so it was a very pleasant surprise that he’s now actually fronting the band!
So here’s to the new Pyramaze! I can’t wait to hear how Urban sounds on Immortal songs, and I should definitely check out their earlier work. And Matt with Iced Earth also works excellently. Now I’ve got two bands to keep a close eye on!
You can hear samples of how Urban sounds on the official Pyramaze announcement.
