Obama is 44th US President
It’s 11:06pm here in the East Coast, and seconds after polls closed in the west coast, CNN announced its projection that Democratic candidate Barack Obama will be the 44th president of the United States of America. The announcement came immediately after polls closed in the states of California, Oregon and Washington, with a 66 additional electoral college votes that pushed Obama’s total to 297, securing his victory.
Update: The total number of votes has been updated to 364, 94 over the 270 votes required to win.
