My brother, a complete coffee freak, got me into the mysteriously deep world of coffee, and ever since he introduced me to the espresso and its derivatives, I haven’t looked back. One of the things that’s always fascinated me is latte art–texturing milk to sweeten it and produce microfoam, and pouring it a special way to create shapes–and I’ve been taking shots at it myself.
(Left) Here’s one of my more recent attempts. The milk here is a tad too thick, and I poured too low.
Recently, though, my steamer’s been giving me trouble. It’s a Moulinex Duomo–by no means the perfect machine for the job–and while I’ve found that it usually performs very well, it’s been leaking these days.
So this is today’s attempt (down). The texturing didn’t exactly go right, but the pouring was slightly better:
Yep, I’ve got quite a lot to learn, and keep posting I shall of my progress. Unless, of course, I shalln’t, in which case, you’ll know I haven’t had the time. But time I shall create and post I shall make. (And this, I reckon, is the effect of consuming, shall we say… liberal amounts of coffee).

Thanks! I need all the wiggle-encouragement I can get
I think I stretched this to 85F; should probably push to around 95/100F. The machine was leaking like crazy, but that’s fixed now. I think 130F is a comfortable temperature to pull off at, then?

Hey stranger! Nice site you have here! Long time no see!
Anyway just wanted to give you this link: CoffeeGeek.
They have great reviews on expresso/cappucino machines and there is this out-of-this-world The Milk Frothing Guide.
See ya Parimal! I’ll try to update the darn blog one day soon. Very busy with school and the forum I now hang around in.

Hey MHC!
Thanks for the link. You’re the second person who’s recommended that website - the first was my brother Parag, who’s made comment #1 - so I’m pretty impressed already.
I registered yesterday and yep, they have excellent articles. I’m reading one right one actually!
I’ll be tuning in to your blog; definitely with the iPhone I know we’re going to see a few posts ![]()

Threads of Time
A new, experimental song! Here’s a teaser:
“And although I’ve seen the truth, I’m falling out and I am falling through. There is no place I haven’t seen, no person that I’ve never been”.
Hi, I'm Parimal Satyal and Reality Equation of Infinite Variables is my journal about the exciting nothingness of everything.
When I'm not dreaming about the Eclipse 500, I'm creating websites, producing and playing powermetal music, writing, exploring minimalist food and drinks, taking photographs and talking way too much.

The milk is too thin. Try stretching it a bit more. Maybe start with colder milk. But the wiggle is good. that’s the right wiggle.
Cheers.
